They are currently working on an app like this, but if you want to send texts to your iTouch there is a way to do this, download the yahoo messenger app for the iTouch, make a Yahoo messenger account and for free you can send messages between your PC and your iTouch.

I use TextNow on my iPad. It is an app that I downloaded which allows me to send and receive unlimited texts and pictures for free . WOW! When I send a text to my personal email or to my cell phone, I can see that it is coming in from `TextNow User` . (I use my real name so my recipients will recognize me). You should first check for that information to see if you recognize the username, which is just like an email name. If not, you could ignore the text or reply to that address and ask `who are you, what do you want`. If you aren`t satisfied after that, just curtly reply `STOP texting me, I don`t know you`. The first time someone sends a text, it is possible they might not realize how it will look to the recipient and may not think of saying who they are. If they don`t let you know who they are you can`t possibly know, obviously. So you must reply to ask if you care to know. Interestingly, I just checked my cell phone call list and I can see the very first text I sent to myself has a phone number showing. But the next one did not. FYI: TextNow assigns a phone number and then you get to make your user name, which will be the name you choose @textnow.me. With the assigned phone number I was able to pick the area I wanted from a list of available area codes. My actual area code wasn`t even on the list so I chose one from another state. The first couple of texts I made were `tests` and I accidentally sent them to wrong numbers by messing up on one digit. I wasn`t able to stop the text after tapping send when I saw the wrong digit because it was too quick and POOF! They were out! So unless you are getting texts in abundance, and as long as it isn`t costing you more (if you don`t have a texting plan), I wouldn`t get too concerned about them. It`s no different than misdialing a phone number or getting an email based on the sender goofing up on the email name. Annoying to get texts or calls not for you, but the sender most likely won`t continue if they know they are in error. I hope this helps some.
