if you want your dog to quit chewing your things you may use spray on that things to make it test bad for dogs, but I don`t prefer this solution, because if your dog start to chew things that`s mean that Your dog needs to do a lot exercise, every dog must have at least its daily 30-60 minute walk, and redirect his attention when he goes to chew, to a toy or chew stick, a lot of people say that`s the Kong`s is the pest.

Does he have a high quality food? Low quality food can cause skin rashes and secondary infections. He could also be having an allergic reaction to something. soem basic obedience training will help. i suggest you call a trainer and get some basic obedience training. also you need to remember hes 8 monthes old now. he's still young you need to train him now. i cant stress this enough to people. train them while they are yound. other wise you will regret it. best of luck ~Ashley

When you see him doing it tell him no and give him something he can chew on. Make sure you don't give him edible treats on the carpet. The smell and some particals from the treat will transfer to the carpet and this may be why he is trying to chew it. Let him chew edible treats on non-carpeted areas or teach him to chew them on a specific thing like a towel or sheet you lay down for him. They sell bitter tasting sprays at the petstores that are supposed to make them stop chewing on things, but I don't know if they will stain or discolor carpet. You'll have to read the labels.

Well, you need to crate train the dog. Dogs are only allowed run of the house when they've shown they deserve the freedom. They do that by being reliably house trained and not destructive. Perhaps your dog also needs a lot more exercise than it's getting, as well as some training.

It's possible she is taking your things because hse likes your scent on them. You need to find her some toys that she can chew on. Maybe you have an old teddy bear in the closet somewhere or an old shirt she can have to sleep with. Dogs chew because they are bored. If you take away her boredom she'll quit chewing your stuff for attention. There are really great toys you can buy for dogs that have the fun/yum factor. Toys such as Kongs work really well with chewing prone animals because as the dog chews - which is fun - it's also getting bits of food - which is yum. Good luck with your dog. Oh, spanking does nothing for a dog except make them frightened of you. Especially since, unlike people dogs have no sense of ownership, if they see something that looks good to chew, they'll chew it. Not because it's yours and it will piss you off. They don't realise what they're doing is wrong so all they see is you coming toward them yelling in an angry voice and then hitting them for no reason.

my dog will not quit chewing on everything. i have small children and she will not leave their toys alone. she chews on furniture too. i have given her many chew toys and i tell her no when she has something she is not supposed to have and immediately give her something she is but it still is not working!!!

Is she still a puppy? They'll chew anything that's within reach. Children's toys are perfect chewies; usually soft plastic. It's going to take work and discipline to teach her which are her toys and which are not. When she has a child's toy, take it away and tell her "no, not your toy". Then immediately give her a toy or chewie and say "this is your toy".

Be persistent. When you see him chewing something, firmly tell him no. Say it over and over until he stops. You will get tired of hearing "no". Kong toys are awsome. They are at most pet stores. They are made of some kind of indestructable rubber. There are holes in them where you can put treats. Kong brand makes treats and a flavored paste to spray in it. Since the treats are down inside, they are hard to get to. Your dog will stay busy for hours chewing on this thing trying to get to the treat inside. The toys are about $10, and so are the treats, but its a lot cheaper than your furniture, shoes, ect. There is also a bitter apple spray to get. Spray it on everything your dog can reach, or likes to chew on. It has a horrible flavor, but is completely safe. The drawback is, it only lasts a day or 2, so you will have to keep spraying over and over. It does work though, once the dog starts to chew and tastes the stuff, he will walk away. Also, keep your dog in a crate at night, or when you arent home to keep an eye on him. Make the crate as comfortable as possible, make it his "safe place" not a place of punishment. If he is not used to this, he will whine for a while at first, but dont give in, he will get used to it after a couple days usually. And as I said before, be persistent. Let him know what is ok to chew, and what isnt. Since he is 2 yrs old, it will be a little trickier than breaking a pup of this habit, but it is possible. Stick with it, it will happen. she chews a hole in any part of my clothing that touches personal parts of my body. i have tried everything to stop her. she chews holes in my underwear, tops under the arm pits and even holes in my jeans. she is ruining everything. she is 10 years old and really has gotten bad the older she gets. she then has problems passing the clothing pieces.

You put the dirty clothes in a clothes hamper and keep it where the dog cannot get to it. You put the clean clothes away. Problem solved.

my dog chews up every pair of underwear he can find and i have no clue what to do! we tried hiding them, keeping them out of his reach... he still gets to them. we are losing several pairs of underwear per day to my puppy. does anyone know how i could make him stop?

The only things that stop the accidents are training and constant vigilance. While house-breaking my dogs I kenneled them when I left the house and kept them on a leash whenever they were inside. It also helps to have specified feeding times, including when your pet gets water. At least until house-breaking is well underway. As for the chewing, purchase chew toys and bones for your pet and have them available for whenever the urge strikes. Good luck!
