Someone said: The first payment after the decision (which comes in a large yellow envelop) comes rather quickly but always on the first of the month. So (for example) if approval is late in Jan, the first payment may be March, if early Jan then I would expect the first check in Feb. Set up auto deposit to expedite payments. Back pay from the date of the claim is a separate check and could be a few days to many months.

it depends on if you need any more appointments, such as x-rays, mental eval, and so forth.....

Someone said: I hope your going to see a real VA doctor for this physical? Once the physical is complete then they complete the narsum (narrative summary), sends that to someone higher in the VA office to be QC'd for errors. That report will go up to your VA Regional office, where you filed your claim with your VA claim number. The waiting period to get someone from the VA to process your claim in order for you to get a rating could be 6 months to 12 months.

I went to my final C & P appointment today. The doctor told me that i could expect a decision letter in 6 to 8 weeks . I hope this help.....hang in there, and good luck

or longer..as a Vietnam in country vet, my appeals have been at Houston since 2004, and I have been calling 2-3 month for status..the answer is always the same..wait

I`m the one that was just complaining on here about just needing to know if I approved or not would be delightful. A comment came in from a reader or ? and said they are not in any hurry and they don`t care how hard it is for us; Texas laws 30 to 90 days to even get the letter after that I`m not sure but maybe someone else will know all the facts!!!!

My friend said 3 weeks some say 7 weeks but they will back pay one year or so for the claim for mind 4and a half yrs . from VA-Good lLuck

Once you file your claims, you will get a letter in the mail for a physical which is your first C & P appointment (compensation and pension) during that the doctor will decide if you need any further evaluations such as x-rays or mental evals and so forth. Depending on what all you need done will naturally determine how long. I had my physical done, and since i already had all my records and the army had already confirmed that i indeed qualified for compensation through them i was lucky and only needed on more C & P appointment ( in didnt need any more x-rays or anything) so during my second C&P appointment, the doctor advised me that i should recieve a letter with a rating decision in 6 to 8 weeks......hang in there....i hope this helps.....good luck
