Help me recover my ipod music files? ok so i have a video camera that i plugged in and i had forgotten that my ipod was also plugged in. i clicked import files and delete them off of my system when it was done. i saw it was deleting my music so i stopped it. i lost 4300 songs off my ipod today. and not all the music was on my itunes because a lot was my brothers. is there a way i can still recover before i have to get my brother to import it again?
try searching for an undelete software. you can search download.com or softpedia.com but i think you need to register for an account with softpedia. its free anyway. i tried it on my thumbdrive once it worked.

Q. Recover ipod video files? i used my ipod that has a video camera on it to record some stuff and i deleted it. i want to try and get the video i filmed back. ive used a few programs and no success so far any ideas and help? the video file format is mp4 and also any players i can use to watch the video?

Q. A lot of questions about the ipod touch and ipod in general. ? ** as i think of more questions i will add it in the details section, so make sure to read those.
here they are in an orderly fashion for you convenience. as the months tick by closer to christmas, i was wondering what i should ask for. it came down to a video camera and an ipod, and i decided to ask for an ipod since i don't really need a camera. there really aren't many good video games coming out for the systems i have.
here are my questions:
for ipod touch (2nd gen):
1. what does jail-breaking do, and is it safe?
2. are the apps like facebook, the internet app and youtube free?
3. what is the price range of applications?
4. which touch is ideal for me? i won't have more than 350 songs, so it will mainly be used for movies. i plan to mostly just rip movies from dvds i get from the library. just off the top of my head, i named about 17 movies and 15 television episodes. should i go for the 32 gig, just for extra space?
5. is it easy to get bored of watching movies, since that will be the primary function of my ipod?
6. do the apps for facebook and youtube have depth so they aren’t just a gimmick that lasts a week?
for ipods in general:
1. for itunes, is it possible to have a file put onto my ipod and then deleted from the computer? i don’t want to have a folder full of 40 700mb videos taking up my previous gb.
2. should i wait? this is probably the hardest question of all, because in a year i know there will be an improved version, with many extra features as which happens every year? should i just dive in? i don’t know what to do!
3. is my idea of ripping from dvds from my local library practical? i’ve never done it before, so i don’t know how long it will take, how much space it will take up or if it will be good quality.
4. it is a shared computer and i only have about 50 gigs left on the comp, so i think i need an external hard drive. how much do these go for and how many gigs would you recommend?
(also, do flash drives work the same as hard drives in terms of things you can store?)

OK here goes...
For the iPod Touch:
1. Jail breaking an iPod allows you to install apps and programs which are not approved for use by Apple. It is not very safe if you don't know what you are doing since you can void your warranty if you are successful and if unsuccessful you have an expensive paperweight.
2. There are many free apps and also some apps you have to pay for. Youtube and the Safari browser come pre-installed and Facebook is available for free. The internet on a Touch works through wi-fi which means if you have a wireless router in your home you can hook up the Touch's internet connection to your router for free. You can use wi-fi at hotspots but some places do charge.
3. The price for an app starts at $0.99 and goes up from there.
4. If you plan on having a lot of movies you are better off going with the 32GB Touch. My 16GB Touch has 6 movies and 3 short videos taking up most of the memory.
5. It isn't easy to get bored with watching the movies since it has a very good screen and resolution but you might want to invest in a case that has a stand (I bought a pair of MyVu goggles so I don't have to hold up the iPod to watch movies).
6. I can't say for Facebook since I don't use it but Youtube is just a mobile version of the website and functions much the same on a more pared down setup.
For iPod in general:
1. You can delete music and video files from iTunes once they are on you iPod but I wouldn't recommend it unless you back it up to an external drive in case you have problems with your iPod.
2. No one knows what will happen between now and next year for the iPods and if you really want or need the device and can justify the cost then go for it.
3. Be aware that by ripping DVDs that you do not own this is illegal but since this is unlikely to stop you then you will need to make sure you have a program like Videora or Cucusoft which will convert the DVD to a usable MP4 format for the iPod. The process does take time and the better the quality the longer the process; many of these programs will allow you to change the quality of the conversion. It will take up a good amount of space on your computer depending on how many movies you convert.

Q. How do i get my computer out of safe mode? i have a emachines pc (p.o.s.) with windows xp, its a couple years old. recently my computer won't allow me to add or delete programs or even update my ipod or download my digital camera pics. i don't know why it would be in safe mode, i recently tried plugging in my flip video camera and it won't show my videos on the computer and says that i have an incomplete or corrupt download of the flip software when i try to run the port it's plugged into. i can't delete flip's files and start over though cuz it doesn't appear on the control panel add/remove programs list. so either i'm in safe mode and don't know how to get out or somehow my windows installer is f-d up. how do i diagnose what's wrong/get out of safe mode? is it possible for a virus to create this problem?

Without being about to look over your shoulder and see exactly what's happening, it's really difficult to diagnose given your description of the state of your computer.
Does it ask about booting into safe mode when you turn the computer on? If it doesn't, you aren't in safe mode.
Have you tried to run your virus checker, because, yes a virus or trojan could have the effect that you describe. If you don't have a virus checker, run, don't walk, to a computer store and buy a virus checker. Boot from the CD that you get from the virus checker, and let it check your hard drive.
If the problem isn't a virus, then you should start copying any files that you want saved on your hard drive to a CD or DVD, because, my guess is that your hard drive is failing or that Windows XP is corrupted in some fashion... in either case you will probably have to re-install Windows...

Please, please help me! computer issues!? okay, so i have a problem with my computer and i've tried everything and i can clearly see it's probably a virus. so what yahoo! answer's people informed me to do, (in a previous question) was to simply reinstall my window's vista home basic operating system. that is what i am planning to do, however, they also informed me to back up my files that i want to keep, (this is where it gets specific). you see, i want to back up the following files for the following reasons:
all my sims 2 games & files: i borrowed them from a friend who moved away and i don't have the money to buy all the expansion packs again (plus sims 3 is coming out soon).
all my pictures: because i deleted them off of my camera, (no i do not have a blank disk handy for pictures). and there are a lot of them.
my book: i am an avid writer and i have spent a very long time writing my book, (142 pages so far) and i cannot lose that.
my downloaded software: such as openoffice.org (microsoft office clone), my downloaded photoshop cs4 & keygen generator, my downloaded movies (mean girls, another cinderella story and 17 again), my flv player, free videozilla, next video ipod converter, dvd videosoft free studio, vlc media player, all my downloaded music, itunes and my songs and pocketrar. now there are many files because it took me forever to get these and i do not wish to spend that amount of time getting them all over again.
please, please, please help me. without the knowledge to back all of this up, i cannot fix my computer! help, please!
any valid suggestions please!

You need to put all of that on some sort of storage device (CD, DVD, SD cards, Flash Drives, External Hard Drive).
Just copy and paste the files, for the programs you'd need to transfer the folders from the c:/program files directory.

Q. I am being treated like dirt. what to do? well my cousin is a year older than me, and i am starting to hate him. i have to see him every week because he my grandparents baby-sit him on thursdays( he is 14 and needs a babysitter, sad i know :-p)
well here are some of the things he has done
- broke my sell phone, he picked it up and smashed it on the sidewalk
- erased my concert videos from my new phone
- got water in my video camera so it doesnt work
- stole my ipod but he lost it so my mom thinks i lost it
- erased my game on zelda twilight princess( i was very far)
- erased my book report file on my computer!
- deleted my buddy list on aim
- he poured dish-soap in my hair!
- he stole $20 from me.
i am sick of him treating me like sh** and i need him to stop! what do i do?
