"Never negotiate large amounts of money over internet..."

That`s the last thing you should do. Never negotiate large amounts of money over internet, when you can`t see what you are negotiating for. The seller will always try to get the most money out of you, you have to check the car first. Don`t let yourself tricked in a deal where you can`t check the product for yourself. And most important, show interest but look professional, not desperate. Leo Collins

Q. Is it generally a good idea to negotiate car deals online or in perons?
i'm in the market to purchase a new car. is it better in terms of getting the best deal to negotiate over the internet wit the dealership or go into the dealership in person to negotiate? to me...it sounds like a better deal to do it over the internet because there's no pressure from the dealer for you to make a decision right away. any advice? thanks!

in person because it is easier to make a deal if they offer a good one.

Q. Are car delears serious when they say they don't haggle prices on the internet?
i just talked to a dealer about a car on autotrader. they said they don't negotiate car prices for cars listed on the internet. are they freaking serious?! should i take their word? or call them out on it nicely and try to haggle?

"What they mean is they will not negotiate price over the phone or via email..."

What they mean is they will not negotiate price over the phone or via email. They want you in the dealership. If you are a serious shopper and ready to buy you have to negotiate face to face. Why should they waste their time negotiating with a ghost on the phone. For all they know you're some under-aged kid with no money sitting in your mom's basement and they don't have that kind of time to waste. It's the only way they can separate the tire kickers and the serious buyers. If you want that car, visit the dealership and negotiate the price. Besides, how can you skip the test drive or the inspection and go straight to the negotiating table without even knowing if the car runs.

Q. Negotiating internet used car prices?
the new thing at the dealerships is this no-haggle internet pricing for used cars. they say they put their best prices on the window and internet. are these really their best prices? anyone had luck negotiating these kinds of prices??

"Always negotiate..."

The sticker price is never the best price they can do. Always negotiate. The supposed best price on the truck I bought this weekend was $2000 more than what I paid for it.

Q. Why does the internet car sale call for higher price than?
the msrp or estimated price indicated yahoo autos? it's not a couple of thousand dollars they overcharge but it's like over usd $6000 for the exactly same model and option. how should i negotiate the price with the dealer?

"End of month is a great time to buy your new car..."

NEVER BUY ON-LINE, ITS JUST A RIP OFF AND A BAIT AND SWITCH, TRY THIS. End of month is a great time to BUY your new car, but it is NOT the best time to make your first dealership visit. Salesmen do try harder to make sales at the end of the month, which is about the last five days of the calendar month. In addition to the end of the month, there are better and worse times of the year to buy. Best time of the year to buy is the end of December, in most dealerships. Dealerships try to make specific quotas for end of month AND end of calendar year, and it is not a popular time to buy, so sales can slump seriously and they will try harder to make a sale, which means a better bargain. If you shy away from buying in the winter because of bad weather, think again: bad weather is when you WANT to be in the car, testing it’s foul weather capabilities. Other good times of year to buy are end of August and end of September because the old models are taking up space on the dealership property, and they want to make room for the new models to come in. If your heart is not set on a brand new model, this is an excellent time to buy a perfectly good new car that happens to have been manufactured a few months earlier. There is a very important BUT to this end of month advice: Do NOT make your very first visit to the dealership at the end of the month. Go to the dealership at the beginning or middle of the month, test drive the cars, get some info, then go home and give yourself two to three weeks to get the best financing. THEN go back at month's end armed with full information and a buying plan. Give yourself a day or two extra in case the first dealership doesn't work out and you need to go to another one. This is a big purchase, don't try to do it all in an afternoon!

Q. Buying a new car has changed -- how do you negotiate now?
i've gone to a couple of dealerships and have tried contacting dealers over the internet. all of the prices i'm getting from all of these locations are within $100 of each other. nobody is willing to negotiate. i recall the days when you could really "wheel and deal" on cars, getting some good discounts if you were willing to haggle. are the days of haggling over? or is there a new rulebook that i should follow to get a better deal?

"Your dealing with the internet now buying a new car there..."

Your dealing with the Internet now buying a new car there is no profit for the dealer with consumers like you whom have done homework, I really like that good stuff. Maybe you should be looking at a used cars negotiations has not changed much. Liked your question, please check out my website http://www.usedcartips.org/

Q. How do you still negotiate with a car salesman even when he goes and print out the kkb, edmunds value of the ca
how do you still negotiate with a car salesman even when he goes and print out the kkb, edmunds value of the car in question and the kkb is slightly higher than what you are negotiating. in order words, the price that brought me in to the dealer is 21,900 as posted on the internet, but i wanted to start the negotiation from 18,500. then the saleman goes and print out the kkb, edmunds value of the car. what are the talks i can do to get them not to win me over with this information. i know they are still cheating me. help!!!, i used to be good at this but i'm loosing my touch here.

"Do you realize your asking how to negotiate with an honest salesman..."

Do you realize your asking how to negotiate with an honest salesman? Why can’t you both win? Good salesman rely on repeat business. He provided the research you should have already done. Not all salesman “cheat”. Buy the car and refer your friends to him.

Q. Is it true that an internet used car price can not be negotiated down?
so...its car buying time and i'm so excited! (not!) with car dealers trying to fast talk you and shovel the keys down your throat to that "hot" car that is going to sell out if you don't jump on the opportunity who's not going to be ecstatic. anyway on to my question...so i walk onto the lot and spot the car from the dealers online website. but when we get down to business he claims that an internet price can not be negotiated down because of some lame excuse about the car coming from somewhere else with that price so they can't do anything about the price. can he be serious? since when can you not work out a deal and get a price of a car down? in the end of course i ended up walking away and that same afternoon found the same make/model car that was the same year for a couple thousand less, has a better engine, also had a sunroof and to top it off is about 13000 miles less! so how serious was this dude?! and yes mr.dealermole this guy was trying to make a deal...they wouldn't even let us leave trying to make their point about how i won't find a deal like that one and so on and so on...they even added more money for my trade-in but it just wasn't good enough! give me a break!

Everything is negotiable. As you get older, you will find out. Just because some site lists a price, does not mean it is cast in stone. Tell the guy to try harder....

Q. Car dealerships are always advertising a particular vehicle i want on the internet.?
i sometimes call to see if this toyota tacoma is still for sale and today when i called, i had already researched the vehicle they were selling. their asking price was $2300 dollars over the maximum blue book price. are most dealerships swindlers? do they expect me to negotiate the price down by $2300 dollars. do most of them tell wild stories about the hx of the car? the salesman expected me to believe the toyota tacoma was traded in for a ford ranger.

There are a few dealers out there who actually recondition used cars. Which includes the engine, transmission, interior, brakes, tires, suspension, et cetera. And usually they come with a warranty. You may want to inquire about that. The dealership may just be greedy tho ;)

Q. What is the best way to get the exact car that you want? colors, options, etc?
the dealerships never have exactly what you want, so they try to squeeze you into a compromise. the heck with that. i see all these "destination and delivery" charges that are through the roof. i'm beginning to think the cheapest thing to do is to scour the country, find the car, negotiate an internet deal, then buy a 99 dollar one way ticket to go pick it up. that could get time consuming i suppose, so whats the answer? david, i think you're the only one who actually understood the question...lol. okay, with one exception i guess this question is way over everyone's ability to comprehend. thats too funny.

You can special order thru your dealer or tje internet.

Q. How to negotiate car sticker price?
i was just at a dealership. the salesman was quoting me the sticker price. what do u do to get the price lower than that? for now, i told him i thought that it was high. he acted as if it was some great deal (of course). i told him i am going to continue to look around at different lots and on the internet, or that i might come back when they are running a promotion. he then called in someone else, a manager or something, but i told them the same thing. no one was coming up with better pricing. (quoting a msrp of approx 27k for a 2008 toyota prius)

"On the lot are very hard to negotiate..."

on a normal car you can negotiat but toyota prius honda civic hybrids and other cars that cant be cept on the lot are very hard to negotiate . the dealer has the advantage because they will sell that car and they will sell it at sticker price and it wont sit there on the lot. if you were to look at a camry or corolla they will negotiat because the car will sit on the lot in a row of 20 others. the prius is like one of may 2 or 3 cars and thats if the dealer you went to got a large allotment. i work at a Honda dealership and we are selling the Civic hybrids at sticker before we have them on the lot we might have one on the lot to be test driven for about a day or two before it is sold but the majority are already sold when we take them off the truck.
