    Q. If my house burns down will my insurance company pay for the house?

It depends on the cause of your fire really, well they don`t wanna to pay you if you`re the one who burned your own house don`t they?..a lot of investigation is involved..jane

    Q. How house insurance works when your house burns?

WHEN YOUR HOUSE BURNS DOWN YOU WONDER AND ASK YOURSELF, HOW DOES THE INSURANCE COMPANIES WORK AND HOW WILL THE INSURER PROCESS YOUR CLAIM. HOW INSURANCE WORKS DEPENDS ON WHAT KID OF POLICY YOU HAVE WITH THE INSURER, OR RATHER WITH FIRE INSURANCE COMPANIES. SO, FIRST THING YOU MUST DO IS TO FIND LEGITIMATE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND CHOOSE THE POLICY TO SUIT YOUR BUDGET. KELLY RICHARDSON_2

    Q. How do i know if i have insurance on my house?

Well, the home insurance plan is offered by many companies and they keep you update by telling you about home insurance expiration, home insurance updates or other home insurance notifications. If they do not keep you up to date, you may consult them and ask by calling or by going to their office! Hope it helps.

    Q. I have mould around the windows on the front of my house, does house insurance cover this?
if i went through my house insurance then how would this affect me? ps on the inside. i think it is to do with the outside of the house. dont want to pressure wash as the front of the house is pebbledashed!

Dont think so..... its not a breakage or damage etc. If you were able to claim I would think the cost of sorting it out would outweigh the loss of no claims discount etc. You dont say if its inside or out... if its inside it could be caused by lack of ventilation .... if its outside maybe the gutters are leaking and making the wall damp worth a look & may be quite easy to remedy

    Q. Is house insurance required when renting out a house?
my friends and i just rented a house in riverside, ca. recently there was a break in and the window was broken, but the was was completely empty so nothing was lost. the landlord says we(the renters) must pay for window since the house is already in our possession, but it was before we actually moved our stuff in, so none of us really want to pay for it. i was wondering if it is california law to have house insurance on rented houses because insurance (might) cover for this? any suggestions on what should be done?

Once you rent a property, the contract stipulates a beginning date for the rental agreement. That is the date you are responsible for the house. It is not the landlord's responsibility or fault if it takes you 2 weeks, or 2 months to move in. It is what the contract says. You are free to rent the house, and leave it empty the whole year, as long as you pay rent, the landlord does not care. I always suggest getting a renters insurance. That would have covered the window, and also anything else that might have gotten stolen.

    Q. How to calculate area of the house for house insurance purpose.?
i know they dont require the basement area.the area given in real estate listing is very different if you calculate on your own with the mathmatical formula= lenth * breath. if you can also tell me how realestate people calculate area of the house. they just give you the range and no body knows what is the exact area and what it covers.

Well, there's such a thing as a "Boeck residential square foot estimator". What you do, is measure the outside of the house, ground floor. If it's 2 full stories, you double it - that's the square footage. You're right, you don't count the basement - there's ANOTHER place where you factor in the basement, if it's finished, if there's a garage there, whatever. Your agent can SHOW you exactly how the replacement value was calculated. REAL ESTATE listings tend to measure the INSIDE of the rooms. They don't include bathrooms, hallways, foyers, closets, etc, just the inside measure of each room (not the two square feet BETWEEN the two rooms), and add them together. However, that's USABLE SPACE. Insurance companies don't REPLACE usable space, they replace WALLS. So you measure the outside of the walls.

    Q. Do you have to get mortgage insurance when buying a house. not house insurance, mortgage insurance?
isn't mortgage insurance for if you die, the loan will be paid off? if so wouldn't life insurance do the same, so why is mortgage insurance needed. must you have it or is it just a option?

You have to have PMI; it's to protect the lender, not you. Most, but not all, lenders will remove their PMI requirements if: 1. The loan to value ratio on your loan is 80% or less. (Some require 75% or another LTV). 2. You have made your payments on time for two years.

    Q. If i claim home insurance on current house, wud my insurance be high in a new house?
hi im thinking about using my insurance to repair water damaged area at my current house, would this increase my house insurance cost, if i moved to a new house. or would the insurance be only high if i use the same insurance provider?

"Talk to your insurance agent for advice...."

A claim will raise your rates on your current home and the new home. You will lose your claims free discount for a certain amount of years. And, you may not even be able to get insurance on another home unless you stay with the same insurance company. Depending on how much damage you have you might not want to put in that claim. Talk to your insurance agent for advice.

    Q. Is there house insurance for akita owners? house insurance companies wont sell it to me because i have an akit?
akita. my parents want to give it away, but i like to keep it. the insurance guy said, no one would sell you house insurance with this dog, when my mom ask to switch insurances. anyway i can make a deal with them that if the dog does something, i will pay for it, not the insurance company.

We currently only have my new wife's old pit bull but we are normally exclusive Akita owners. We shopped around to find there are options though they mostly involve a much higher premium. What we finally settled on was a policy through State Farm that doesn't specifically cover a specific breed but instead covers us like it would for any breed. The difference is that since he is considered one of the "banned" breeds, if he ever bites someone causing a claim, after the settlement they would drop us cold with no chance of continuance. Good dog ownership of course should include putting your dog through obedience classes, good socialization, lots of exercises, lots of positive interaction and a good alpha leader it's whole life. If you can manage these things-especially playing the role of a good alpha 100% of it's life-you should have little to worry about. Dogs are dogs though and there is always a chance they could be in a situation that could set them off-the key is to not put them in the situation first off.

    Q. Why does it matter how many corners a house has when buying house insurance?
i was looking to buy a house and all 3 insurance companies that i got a quote from asked me how many corners it had. why do they ask this?

It is a little hidden question in the new cost estimator program. Well, the question really has to do with shape, square, rectangle, irregular, very irregular. The more corners a building has, the more expensive it is to rebuild. We don't ask, we get measurements from the town & get our own pictures.

    Q. Cutting my own tree down and hitting my house. is it covered by house insurance?
i was cutting some trees down and bounced one off the house. i'll have to see if there was any damage; would that be covered by insurance should something be royally messed up or is it tough luck? thanx

Don't lie about what happened. Turn the claim in, tell the truth, and see if the insurance company will pay. Two weeks ago, I had a client call me, and he had done the same thing you did. We filed the claim with the company, and much to my surprise, it was covered. I can't guarantee your company will cover this claim, but its worth a shot.

    Q. Is there a site online where i can see a full list of companies that offers house insurance?
is there a site online where i can see a full list of companies that offers house insurance? i mean companies offering house insurance throughout usa and canada?

No, because not all companies offer insurance in all states, and many do not offer coverage out of hte country. If you're looking for a particular state, you can go to that state insurance department's website, and they usually have posted the companies licensed to do business in that state. Keep in mind, however, that some companies who are NOT licensed to do business in that state, will still write coverage for houses (not a true homeowners package policy), so it's not all inclusive. If you wish to put in the 150 hours or so of work it's going to take to compile the list, and post it on the internet for free, feel free to do so.
