On Food Network, they always say if he smells fishy its gone bad. Fresh fish really doesn`t have a strong smell. If it out of date I wouldn`t risk it cause seafood can make you really sick.Sometimes there is a discoloration in the meat.Examine it. Seafood usually gets dry when it gets old,and yes of course it is going to stink!!My opinion is that never re freeze the fish that has defrosted.I hope my answer will help you a lot.

if want to have deforst fish then you must have to eat within one day only otherwise you can be seek after one day you defrost fish so please be care with non-veg food they can make problem for you if it is not fresh

Meat is entirely different; `dry-aged` beef is often held at low, but not freezing, temperatures for weeks to tenderize it.
