Q. How to check wires for power?

You can check the wires for power by measuring the electrical power with a wattmeter. You must be knowing the approximate range of the measurement to choose the wattmeter of appropriate rating. Then connect the wattmeter across the terminals and you should the measurement on the display. Another option to you want to just know if the wires are active is to use the multimeter and find the voltage across the terminals.Be sure to note whether the power is ac or dc,the multimeter should be set accordingly. I hope this answers your question. Swastik
