Well, I'm going to get the 16gb nano. Sure, I won't have that many songs, but videos take up a lot of space. And I like the colors. But the touch is cool, too. I just can't stand touch screens personally, but you might not mind. My suggestion is to go to a store like Best Buy and play around with the demo models and see which one is better for your tastes. Although to do that you may have to wait a few days because the stores in my area haven't gotten the new iPods yet. :(

iPods never get cheaper. they're only relatively cheaper at different stores by a couple of dollars becoz they all sell as MSRP. unless you wait for a store like target sometimes that says if you buy it from them you get like $10 gift card with it. the only times iPods get cheaper is when the next generation iPods come out and they have to sell the old ones and you can get one with a price drop/cut.

No, it will not be enough. You said you have 300 songs, and 25 hours of videos. Most songs are a few MB. For me they are closer to 4 or 5 MB (megabytes) so I'll go from there. 300 x 4.5 = 1350 MB 1 GB = 1024 MB 1350 MB = 1.32 GB So you now have 14.68 GB (or less because 16GB iPods normally come with 15.xx GB ) 25 hours of videos, assuming they are all about 1 hour and 45 minutes long (rounding from my collection) you would have 17 movies. If they are HD (High Definition) they will be about 1.2 GB each, if they are SD (standard definition) they will be about 720 MB each. So for HD movies you will be able to store: 14.68/1.2 = 12.3 movies (so 12 movies) And for SD you will be able to store 14.68 x 1024 = 15032.32 (MB) 15032.32/720 = 20.87 (so 20 movies) I think you should go with an iPod Classic

well first, the iPod Touch is not called an itouch...that bugs me when people say that... but anyways, the classic is strictly a harddrive player, while the shuffle, nano and touch are flash memory. i dont think that theree will be a 16gb classic, since they can make bigger harddrive players for less money, and flash memory cost more. but, i could definatly see 16 gb come to the nano (obviously not the shuffle) because when it first came out, there werent any 8gb nanos, and they thought that that was alot of space. also, you have to know that if there was going to be a 16gb nano, it migh have to be thicker, so maybe in a few years, the memory storage will get bigger, but the physical size will get smaller.

it should be obvious enough, with the name, but ipods are known to have capacities slightly less than what they are advertised as, such as the 2gb second generation nano only having 1.8gb, and the first generation nano only having just under .9gb. so i was wondering, how much does the fifth generation 16gb hold?

It really varies with each individual player as to what the actual formatted capacity of the drive will be. It is always a little under the maximum advertised capacity, but usually not too much more than the two examples you gave. It should still have just under 16 GB of total storage.
