You need to switch-off and then switch on the phone(Hold the on-off button until red slider appears then switch off) .When you switch on all the "waiting apps" will be gone

touch/hold down on the selected episode and while you are holding your finger down, swipe to the right. this will prompt a delete button to come up. took me a while to figure out, but it`s free. no software purchase necessary.

HEY ..... I WAS TRYING TO DELETE APPS THAT SAID WAITING AND I TURNED THE PHONE OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS.... LIKE SUGGESTED HOPING IT WOULD JUST DELETE THEM....... INSTEAD THE ALL CAME UP LOADED. YEAH!!! THANK YOU AND I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE!!!!

It happened to me too. Press the power button for about 5 seconds & power off your iphone. Wait for about 30 seconds & power it back on. Walla... the waiting icon is gone!
