i am in the market for an ipod touch. i am practically ready to buy one, but don't know if it would be worth it to wait till the next one comes out. does anyone have any info about when the 2009/2010 touch comes out and if so please let me know.

There won't be anything new until fall, and it probably won't have a camera then either, in spite of wishful thinking and all the rumors. The same rumors flew last year too. If that camera was ever going to materialize, it would have already.

I still have my 1st generation that is at the end of its line... The longest I'm waiting til is mid april. The one rumor that annoys me is that the camera will be the same as in the nano, only able to shoot video! I do however, think that that is just bs, since any app developer can come out with an application to take stills, so apple might as well incorporate that into the ipod and definitely sell more. If they add a camera and FM radio the ipod will basically kill any competition, and it will become the everything-in-one gadget, and i honestly don't think other developers will allow for that. Hope I'm wrong though. Hopefully we will get a camera, radio, and more memory (they seriously need to do away with the 8gb models) by early to mid spring.

so i just bought about 2 month ago an ipod touch with only 8gb assuming that the 8gb is a 3rd generation ipod. i asked the sales associate in the store where i bought the device if my new ipod was 2nd or 3rd generation, the person working in store said that 2nd and 3rd generation ipod are all the same except of their memory capacity and build in speakers with 3rd generation and if i so desperate to have speakers i could buy them separetely only for $30 and somethings. yesterday i was checking my daily news on internet and i found out that with the new release of iphone 4g there is a new firmare that i read only available with 3rd generation ipod touches. i contacted bestbuy store if they receive ipod touches with receive and original packaging except it's already open. for me to buy a 3rd generation ipod because i'm not really good at technology. but because i bought my ipod about 2 months ago and warranty is only for 30 days i am doomed. still i the option to return my almost new ipod to apple store (sending it somewhere with my money included). i know that new update for ipod touch is not very major because you still can jailbreak your ipod with "cydia" software and still get the same results as the new firmare is going to, but with cydia the warranty of 1 year of ipod touch 2nd generation dies automaticaly after jailbreaking. still i am pretty sure that there is coming probably a new better version ipod than 3genaration so if i buy it a 32gb now after i would regret it for sure.

The Iphone 4 software is coming in july as a free update and it does everything the new iphone 4 will do such as multi tasking so i reccomend keeping your ipod and waiting

i've been reading about a lot of rumors about how apple may release a new ipod touch during the spring of 2010, and supposedly it's basically adding that little video camera that they said they didn't add during the last upgrade because of technical problems. so how likely is it that they would release it this early? i've been pretty use to the fact that they keep releasing new ipods during september, but could the release of the ipad come with the release of a new ipod?

Umn, I don't think Apple is going to go off their schedule. This September will be the month. Anyways if they did release the iPod Touch now, it would cut into the iPad sales. Dude Apple wants money, that's why they don't have a camera on an iPod Touch, because they want you to spend the extra cash on an iPhone. A few things you could see in the next gen iPod touch is, a faster CPU (the iPads is 1GHz [1000MHz] and the current iPod Touch 3rd Gens is 600MHz. So you might see the 4th Gen have to same CPU (probably underclocked though) as the iPad. (800-1000MHz). The iPad also has 512MB of RAM, so possibly the new iPod Touch will have this (the current gen has 256MB). And last Toshiba announced that they have 64GB flash memory chips (the 64GB iPod Touch uses two 32GB chips), which means Apple could go as high as 128GB (two 64GB chips) in their next gen iPod Touches. And dont really trust rumors, the only way I know this stuff is because of how companies work. Since releasing the iPad, it would only make since to use most of the components from the iPad in the new iPod Touch.

New ipods don't come out until Sept, just after labor day....there is a 50-50 chance for the camera...but it's not worth the wait.....10 months ago I got the then new 2nd gen ipod touch, and I am glad cause the newer 3rd ones did not imporve enough to have made it worth the wait if I had chosen to wait.
