 Q. .270.............................? how far can a .270 shoot, and can it killed an elk? if it can how many grains for elk and how many grains for deer?
I use 165 grain 30-06 loads on both deer and elk, never had any problems;a 270 at 140-150 grains isn't enough behind that to not use. I have many friends that use and oft-times prefer the 270.
I do suggest using a better quality Bonded Core or Controlled Expansion bullet for elk. An elk is more than just a big deer, large cows can go 500 pounds and bulls can push 800. You need something like a Nosler Partition,Accu-Bond or E-Tip,Sierra Game Kings,Remington Core Lokts,Barnes, and similar bullets to get 90% weight retention and predictable performance even when hitting bone. You can use standard cup and core bullets,but the risk of jacket/core separation and poor penetration does exist,especially on quartering shots or short range hits. I reload, and with the research and manuals available it makes sense for me to load up Accu-Bonds and Barnes Triple Shocks for best results. I hate suggesting $40-$60 a box factory ammo too, so look for Remington,Hornady,Federal and Winchester bonded core loads within budget, but still, a little extra for elk hunting isn't a sin, and you only need one good shot after you check your ZERO. Yes, for elk hunting with 270 you need to be selective on your shots and placement, and my personal ethical range is 400 yards even with a 300 WSM;anything within 350 yards should be fine,over 350 you really have to know your gun,bullet, and have an excellent shot window into the chest.

What happens if neither presidential candidate gets 270 votes? i did a scenario through yahoo's political dashboard in which neither obama or mccain got a full 270 votes but all the states were represented. i think obama had a few more but it did not reach the target. what would happen in this case?
The only way that happens is if they both get 269. All 538 electoral votes will be allocated. In the event of a tie, the House of Representatives decides, with each state getting one vote.

What is the best brand of rifle in a 270 or 243 caliber? i am really thinking about getting a gun in a 270 or 243, but i dont know about what brand of rifle about going with. i dont want to spend more than $700 either but will go over it, but not over $800. i am also wondering what kind of stock is the best: synthetic or wood or laminated?
what about 270 wsm or 270 winchester?
I have both a 270 and a 243, but if i had to have only one it would be the 270. The 270 is a remington 700 stainless steel and laminate wood, and is a sweet looking gun shoots flat and accurate and I have never had any problems with it. The 243 is a Winchester model 70 "coyote" version with a stainless steel bull barrel blued receiver and flat walnut stock. You have to be careful with laminate stocks because if you scratch the stock deep enough and moisture gets in it will swell the wood and start it peeling. Im going to buy my daughter a new rifle for Christmas and im getting her a remington 700 with a synthetic stock and all blued metal.

The South Beach diet is like all the others - diets don't work! Simply eat less. As for exercise, the best for you would be swimming laps - and I mean swimming laps, not just lazing around in the friggin' pool! Your heel spurs will have no adverse effects at all, and swimming is actually better than running for exercise. Go on down to the YMCA and sign up to use their pool.

Whatever happened to the 270 cops that went awol in new orleans during the hurricane? i heard a few excuses that it happened becouse of all the stress.too bad for the city that pays police who crack under stress.hopefully they were all fired,becouse they all proved they were worthless when it really mattered,and what do you think those 270 will do next time disaster strikes?
NOPD had about 1700 officers a the time Katrina struck. About 15% of them left without authorization at some point when the city was still flooded.
The incidents were investigated on a case-by-case basis months afterwards. All of the officers who were found to have deserted were fired. The number was actually 286 and they won't be around "the next time disaster strikes" - at least not as police.
Do remeber that 85% of the Department did NOT desert.

You should look at your end goal with the project; are you looking to build a system that is just better than what's in the car currently? Maybe improve the system on a budget?
There are tons of speakers, companies etc out there. Basically the more money you throw at it the higher the performance.
For what you are looking at buying you do not need to buy crossovers.
If you want better clarity and a decent sound take a look at a component speaker setup, you should be needing crossovers at this point. Now the fun is locating all these parts and pieces in the vehicle... One decently sized 4 channel amp will work fine. The more amps you add the more screwing around you will need to do, if space is a factor then you may consider it.
Buy the best stuff you can afford, pay the money for good, correctly sized wiring with the properly sized fuses. Make sure everything is connected properly and take your time.
If your doing this yourself, make sure you know what your getting into... frying your car's electronics, stereo, yourself etc. sucks

Q. What rifle would be super accurate, reasonably priced and can take cartridges .270 and larger? i am looking for a bolt action rifle that is consistantly accurate at 500 yds and has a good reputation for being durable. i want to be able to shoot at least .270 and 7mm cartridges most likely 30-06 cartridges, and i would like the price to be under $500. i will most likely be using it for deer hunting but now i would use it mainly for long range target practice.
Savage model 110 now 111.... I have a 30-06 model 110..... very nice bolt action rifle.... accurate and powerful

Q. How many rounds can i expect from my .270 barrel before it needs to be barreled? i have a .270 with a 24" stainless barrel with a 1:10 twist rate and i am shooting 110gr bullets through it at 3250fps which is 1 grain below the maximum charge weight.
the barrel is only an ordinary one to, it's not heavy or anything, so how many rounds could i expect to shoot through it before it wears out and i lose accuracy and need to have it re barreled?
if it's a normal production grade barrel, you dont shoot it while it's too hot to touch, preferably never more then a few shots in rapid succession with the barrel being allowed to cool well between strings and you clean it in a reasonable manner you will probably get several thousands rounds life from it before accuracy begins to drop off noticably.
benchrest shooters often get a couple thousand rounds of life before they decide a barrel is worthless and they are dealing with accuracy levels that require groups (5-10 shots) to be in the twos or to put it another way groups have to measure LESS then 0.3 inches for every 100yds range to be acceptable. Acceptable mind you not good.

Unless you know the design aspects of the circuit intimately, don't do it. The designer chose that for a reason - almost certainly not known to you. It may be that it is to withstand surges. Maybe that part of the circuit runs at 300V, in which case 400V would be a logical value to use.
You can be sure he did not do it on a whim.
As a tech for 30+ years I would not consider using an underrated component - it is begging for trouble.
That cap sounds like an electrolytic - I have seen a small 100uF cap explode and write off the equipment it was in - the electrolyte went everywhere, and is corrosive. Byebye equiment.
One thing you can do if you have space. If you cannot source that exact cap, you could put 2 x 400V 150uF caps in parallel to achieve the same result. The 400V is the critical part of this though.
Don't derate that 400V rating. 400V is a highish voltage and you could come to all sorts of grief.
AND: Unlike resisters, you cannot place 2 x 200V caps in series to make 400V. Caps don't work like that. They must be 400V (or better) and in parallel.

Both are good. Which do you like over all? Simple question.
I like a .308, but does that mean you should get one over the other? Nope. Google the ballistics for each to get general idea if you wanna go that in depth about it. Both will take a deer and hog and other big game with ease.
