it all depends. 1. if you have a ceiling fan with a light kit installed then the black wire would be for the ceiling fan; while the red wire would be for the light. 2. if the switch n question is a 3 way switch then the red wire would be used as one of the traveler wires

it indicates that you have a 12/2 with ground which probably is hot; while the other cable is a 12/3 with ground

I have identified the neutral and hot wires coming out of the electrical box however i am un-sure as to which wire from my 3-way dimmer switch (red or black) do i connect to the hot wire? My instincts are telling me that black is hot but i need some confirmation on this before i proceed with the installation.

Typically, the positive wire will be the one with a "trace" on it; like a solid or dotted line. Usually, the negative wire will have text running down it. The best way to check is to use a volt-meter.

On Food Network, they always say if he smells fishy its gone bad. Fresh fish really doesn`t have a strong smell. If it out of date I wouldn`t risk it cause seafood can make you really sick.Sometimes there is a discoloration in the meat.Examine it. Seafood usually gets dry when it gets old,and yes of course it is going to stink!!My opinion is that never re freeze the fish that has defrosted.I hope my answer will help you a lot.
